Understanding Treatments

Most coloured gemstones on the market today have been treated in some way - what matters most is transparency about it.

Most coloured gemstones on the market today have been treated in some way, most commonly by heat, to improve their colour or clarity. This practice is widely accepted in the trade, provided it is disclosed.

Heat treatment is considered a stable, permanent enhancement and rarely affects a stone's value significantly when disclosed honestly. Untreated stones, however, are rarer, and command a premium precisely because nature alone produced their finished colour.

What matters most is transparency. Every gemstone we present states its treatment status clearly, so you always know exactly what you are acquiring - and can decide what matters most to you as a collector.

Every remarkable gemstone carries a story. We would be honoured to help you discover the one that becomes part of yours.
