Frequently Asked Questions

General Questions

What does “Ready for Viewing” mean?

A stone marked Ready for Viewing is in our possession and can be shown in person at any of our houses, or sent for private review, without delay. “Sourced Upon Request” means the stone is confirmed to exist and has been reserved with a trusted mining or cutting partner, but has not yet arrived in Colombo - we will give you an honest timeline before you commit to anything.

Can I view more than one stone at a time?

Yes. Private viewings, whether in person or by video, are rarely limited to a single stone. Let your gemologist know in advance what you would like to compare, and we will prepare a small selection rather than one piece at a time.

How can I see what a bespoke setting will look like before it is made?

We provide a rendered preview of any bespoke design before production begins, and for more significant commissions, a physical wax model can be produced so you can hold the proportions in your hand before a single gram of metal is cast.

Our Warranty

Every piece of finished jewellery from Lankaratna carries a warranty against manufacturing defects - porosity in the metal, incomplete joins, or metal purity that falls outside stated karat. This warranty does not extend to damage from wear, accident, or alterations made by a jeweller outside our workshop.

Third-Party Laboratory Reports

Every gemstone above a meaningful value threshold is accompanied by an independent laboratory report, provided at the time of enquiry so you can review it before deciding. Reports for smaller stones are available on request.

Do you sell previously owned jewellery?

No. Every piece we offer, whether a loose gemstone or a finished setting, is newly sourced or newly made. We do not deal in estate or second-hand jewellery.

We invite you to experience the beauty, heritage and craftsmanship of Sri Lanka through gemstones chosen with knowledge, integrity and care.
